Day 31 - Kindness #DailyGratitude
Oct 7, 2025
A reflection on compassion as strength in motion, choosing understanding and action even when it is hardest, beginning with kindness towards yourself.

Every weekday morning, Zak goes live on his community, Take Action Daily, to chat with members about the daily word of gratitude and the key question. Enjoy reading today's summary from the live call below.
This morning’s Take Action Daily call focused on a word that feels more important now than ever: Compassion.
We often think of compassion as softness, as something gentle or passive. But the more we spoke, the clearer it became that compassion is actually strength in motion. It is not about feeling sorry for someone, but about recognising their struggle and choosing to act with care and understanding.
One community member described how compassion transforms accountability into connection. It is the bridge between responsibility and empathy. Another shared a powerful reminder that true compassion shows up when it is hardest to give, when you are tired, frustrated, or tempted to close off. That is when it matters most.
We also reflected on the quieter side of compassion, self-compassion. The ability to rest, forgive yourself, and extend the same patience inward that you so readily give to others. Without that, compassion for others eventually runs dry.
The conversation reminded me that compassion is not a feeling you wait to have, it is a choice you make, often in moments when it does not come easily. That is what gives it meaning.
Take a moment today to notice where compassion could take shape in your life, perhaps by listening to someone, helping in a small way, or offering a kind word to yourself.
Have a great day.
