Day 21 - Time #DailyGratitude

Oct 21, 2025

A reflection on time, exploring how awareness, balance, and presence turn each moment into something meaningful and help us live with greater gratitude.

Every weekday morning, Zak goes live on his community, Take Action Daily, to chat with members about the daily word of gratitude and the key question. Enjoy reading today's summary from the live call below.

Today’s word of gratitude was time, and it brought one of the most thoughtful conversations of the month.

Time is something we all share equally, yet experience so differently. It can feel fast or slow, abundant or scarce, depending on how present we are in the moment. We reflected on how easily it slips away when we lose focus, scroll mindlessly, or fill silence simply to avoid stillness. The question “Is this deliberate or automatic?” became a powerful reminder that the difference between wasted time and meaningful time often comes down to intention.

🕰️ The Balance Between Awareness and Action

One community member described time as a reflection of awareness, how journaling, tracking, or simply noticing how we spend our days helps us use time more intentionally. Structure, they said, isn’t about control, but about clarity. Using something as simple as a 10-minute timer can help turn good intentions into action and bring order to the day.

Another reflection explored the relationship between discipline and purpose. We debated whether discipline should come first or if purpose should lead the way. In the end, we agreed both matter, discipline builds the foundation, while purpose provides direction.

🌅 The Gift of Mornings and Presence with Family

We also spoke about the gift of mornings. Those early, quiet hours can transform our relationship with time. Stillness at the start of the day often creates space for everything else. One reflection captured this perfectly, “not having time” often just means not being present. A short message, visit, or call can mean more than we realise.

Another perspective reminded us that while we can’t control the amount of time we have, we can control how deeply we experience it. Slowing down, even for a few minutes, allows gratitude to grow naturally.

🌍 Time as Perspective

Several reflections from the community expanded the conversation even further. One shared that time perception changes across cultures, how living or travelling abroad slows everything down and reminds us that life doesn’t have to rush. Another mentioned that the more years we live, the faster time seems to pass, because each year becomes a smaller fraction of our total experience. It was a humbling reminder to savour the present while it’s here.

Others shared deeply personal insights:

  • One spoke about time as a healer, helping us process, learn, and rebuild.

  • Another described time as the only real currency we have, a reminder that life’s most precious moments often come through presence, not productivity.

  • Someone reflected on how managing time is an ongoing skill, balancing work, goals, and rest without losing the ability to enjoy life itself.

  • And one reflection beautifully summed it up: spending time doing what makes you happy is not wasted time, it’s fulfilled time.

🧭 The Essence of Time

Time teaches us that awareness is everything. When we are deliberate with how we spend it, on rest, on relationships, on purpose, it rewards us with meaning. Time is both our greatest teacher and our most fragile gift.

Reflection Question

How can you make the best use of your time today?

Have a great day
